money.wi.gov – Search Wisconsin Unclaimed Property

  • Search or Claim Property in the state of Wisconsin
  • The service is free to use and is operated by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue
  • All forms associated with the Money WI gov service are Adobe PDF fillable forms that can be completed online, printed and then mailed to the state

The Money WI service will automatically attempt to contact a person if they have unclaimed property valued at $2,000 or more.  In some cases the Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) will compare unclaimed property information to

tax records

and if property is found in value of less than $2,000 a check will be issued to the owner.  Those who have already submitted a claim using the Money WI GOV service can check the status of the claim with the confirmation or claim number along with the claimants zip code.

Money WI Gov Comments


  • A maximum of 250 records will be displayed based on any given Money WI search
  • The unclaimed property law in the state of Wisconsin does not include real estate
  • Common example of unclaimed property include uncashed dividends, customer deposits or overpayments, matured life insurance policies, uncashed death benefit checks, and mutual funds
  • The WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE can be reached by mail at PO Box 8982 Madison, WI 53708-8982
  • There is not a limit to the amount of unclaimed property a person can claim

Any questions about the Money WI service can be directed to DORUnclaimedProperty@revenue.wi.gov or at 608-264-4594 for assistance.  Customers who already started a claim online can finish it by providing their email address used at the time of sign up and confirmation code.  Residents who conduct a search using the Money WI GOV service will have to provide their last name (or business name), first name, and middle initial (in lieu of the business name the person can provide the property ID if available).
